Yesterday we travelled to Chicago and had our meeting with the psychologist. It is the law in Illinois that you must meet with a psychologist. I get it, he has to make sure we aren't crazy. I think we passed with flying colors =) He talked to both of us and I had to take the MMPI. I laughed out loud at multiple questions as some of them were pretty out there.
Today we met with the IP's we have been matched with and the meeting was facilitated by the psychologist. They were super nice, normal people. We had the same beliefs about termination, selective reduction, and how many embryos will be transferred. They were easy to talk to and it was nice to meet them. It was hard to read a short bio and be sure I wanted to move forward but after meeting them today I know I do.
We weren't allowed to make a decision there. We were asked to think it over, talk it over, and take some time to let sink in. Our drive home was a little over 5 hours but we had talked and decided we want to move forward within the first hour. But we are going to sleep on it and let the weekend soak in and call the agency tomorrow with our answer.
The next step will be the contract and I will need to travel to Chicago again to meet with their fertility doctor. After he gives me the ok I will go back again for an embryo transfer.

IP bio
On March 11th I received a bio for intended parents. This is a big deal. I thought it over and talked it over and on Thursday I called the agency and told them we wanted to move forward.
I was told they are very sweet and they have the same feelings I do about termination and selective reduction which are big issues when it comes to gestational surrogacy. It's their baby but it's my body so we need to agree on what actions we are willing to take or not take.
On Friday we will drive to Chicago and meet with a psychologist and then Saturday morning we will meet the IPs. As long as everything goes ok we will take the next step.
